Rattle Can Paint

I have many spray paint cans in my shed and I buy new ones once in a while. I have yet to run into one where I couldn't turn it upside to clear the nozzle.

I've always had trouble with Rustoleum spray cans, when they have sat on the shelf for a long time, clogging the nozzle. Had a HF sawsall and rigged a long blade with hose clamps to save my sore elbows. Use it when ever I grab an old spray can.

Rustoleum rusty metal primer is VERY susceptible to clogging after sitting. Might have to use all the tricks
here to not waste paint. Thanks guys.

I take my nozzles off and blow air through after every uses and it works fine.

I'll try the nozzle cleaning suggestions. If they work I'll have a 5 year supply of rattle paint.

What I do is spray the nozzle immediately after each use. Doubt it will work on a clogged nozzle that has dried.

Yeah I didn’t know it was a thing till I had one that wouldn’t anymore I held it upside down for quite awhile before I read the can

For those of you who run out of propellant in a paint can, you can always recharge the can with air by using one of these. It's actually a tire valve stem. I won't guarantee the safety but I did use it on a paint can and it did work.

I use this to air air to my paint cans and also other aerosol cans. Keep the pressure down but it don't seem to make a difference.

The hvlp I bought over 20 years ago for $200 is still working well. If a project would require more than 1/2 a rattle can I use the hvlp.

It is the modern type of paint spray gun. Hight Volume-Low Pressure. They are much easier to get good results with than the old high pressure siphon guns.
