Hello everyone, my next task is working on a 4440 with a cab on it. The kid was out discing and lost B RANGE, I have never worked on a 4440 before. Has this happened to anyone else. Just wondering how big of a job it is. Tia

B range gets a lot of use, along with C range,, it's a big job, I remove the cab, rock shaft final drives then set the transmission away from the clutch housing,,then remove the ring gear/differential,top shaft,,and then at this point the bottom shaft which caries the range gears, I would replace both B & C range gears,shift collars thrust washers and snap rings,, along with the bearings,,I'm doing one on a 4630 here this week,, I will post some pics later.

Tim, have you tried supporting cab and rolling/separating rear end out for disassembly?

Yes, once....It's way to close of quarters to work for me,, I have a good cab lifter, so this is the best way for me.

Tim I have a later model JD 4430 with no A range or park , is that a similar teardown required ??
