How do I see your video? I pull a 435 from 3500lb to
4500lb. I had injectors that flowed 150 cc I have
177cc injectors in it now but still not enough to
pull second gear. You can see it if you go to you
tube and enter John Deere 435@ Tunica I am running
18.4 X 34 rear tires full cut. If you want to talk
435's call me 618 838 2225. Vic

There comes a point when extra fuel doesn't make any more power.
I can think of a certain 435 on the dyno with 80 series injectors. The fuel rack was operated by hand against the governor. The last rack travel from 75% to 100% made no difference on the dyno. Only extra smoke up the stack.
The only way down the track faster. Is to make more rpms in 1st gear.
I'm fairly certain that a set of 15% slower ring & pinions plus the 15% final drive gears. The two mods would then put 2nd gear about half way between stock 1st and 2nd gears.

I believe you are right, I even have 16 psi of boost. I still have the inj that flow 155 cc. It doesn,t smoke except when the gov surge, with the 177 inj. Last pull came in First two times and 3 once. Never smoked, except a little gray at the end.Pulling against 400+ Allis's and Olivers. Vic

I agree that extra fuel above a certain point just makes smoke and may even reduce power. I am not sure what ring and pinion is in our 435D. It was a loader tractor, yes I said loader tractor, prior to our purchasing it. Everything near the front end was wore out! It may have gotten a ring and pinion gear replacement in the normal course of use. The last pull was a clay track and most tractors were running out of power. We pulled in 2nd with no ability to tap the power. Have either of you played with cam timing? Years ago we had a 8-71 with a split key in the cam drive gear that advanced the valve and injector timing. It increased power between 2000 and 2150 RPM. Not sure if such a key is available for the 53 series. The other option would be to try and find a 4 valve 53 series head and cut it down to fit a 2-53. I think it would be possible to use a band saw and cut the proper length and then plate the end. I have not really explored this option.

That four valve trick has been tried. The two valve head with the high lift 2400rpm cam. Flows just as much as the four valve head with the low lift 2800rpm cam.
All the four valve head does is compensate for the low lift cam to allow higher rpms.
The high lift cam has been tried with the four valve head. Gets dodgy to prevent valve spring coil bind. HP gain on the dyno is zero at 2400rpm.
A cut down four valve head, a re-ground 2-53 high lift cam into the high rpm/low lift cam. Then extra cam follower spring pressure and extra valve spring pressure. Should make for a 3600rpm 2-53.
All fine if the officials don't check rpms.
I have no idea how the tractor spins out in 2nd with power to spare. You seen the 435 video on the wet limestone track where the engine bogs in 2nd gear. It's 46HP at 1850 and 60HP at 2400rpm. Flat torque curve from 1200 to 2400 rpm.
The cam should have been advanced when the engine was apart but wasn't done.
Just judging by the video I would guess the Drayton 435 has twice the ground speed of the Texas 435.
I wonder if the Texas 435 has a slower gasser R&P and shorter tires?
