Hi I am trying to fabricate a quick pick up fitting for my back of my Fordson Dexta, what is the geometry for the end of the two arms and the adjustable top stay I think the vertical spacing is about 14" I want the pick up fitting to be vertical all the way up?

The lower arms are not connected at their front pivot point in a vertical plane with the top link, that will not work, making them coplanar at the implement end. Attachment points result in a change in the pitch of the attachment unless the top link is the same length and angle as the bottom arms. but they are not the same length at all. Thus the top link must be 29.5 inches (same as the lift arms) then the bottom of the thing you are making must be offset to allow this to have a vertical surface some 5 to 6 inches farther rearward. I have found a "3 point linkage tow hitch" on ?bay that has 19" (475) between the vertical heights? the top distance out is adjustable.

Thanks for your input Janicholson, all help is good.

You can buy what you want to make for probably about the same money when you get done and it will work fine. The top needs to have the hook back of the bottom when lowered so you can hook the top link then as you lift the bottom hooks in the notches where you latch them to so they stay while using them. They are the only way to have 3pt implements.

This should help: If not just Google/search 'tractor hitch dimensions' lots of sites have drawings to go with the info

Add a hydraulic adjustable top link if you want to keep something like a 3-point carryall or forks level as they lift. As has been posted the pivot points and member lengths are not equal so the 3-point attachment will not lift level like a forklift.

This is what I have:

Those dimension charts are for the implements. The hitch dimensions on the tractor do not follow any standard, with the biggest variable being the location of the toplink bracket. Every designer has a different idea of what's best.

If you are custom building the implement to move perfectly, you need to build it specifically to the tractor, not to some chart you found out on the internet.

Most implements move with the tractor pretty well, particularly trailer movers, even though all three points are in the same vertical plane, but not perfect. You can set them so the tilt change is minimized over the range of motion. Start a little one way fully lowered, and end up slightly the other way fully raised.

Another option is a hydraulic top link so you can control the tilt of the implement from the seat.
