Rear axle seal

[Grandpa's 8N]

The right hand hub is leaking oil. The leak all appears to be to the outside, no oil appears on the inside of the rim. Is this just he outer axle seal?

What year is the tractor?

Is it hydraulic oil or wheel bearing grease?

If you have both inner and outer seals, oil has to get past the first seal in order for it to leak past the second one. I wouldn't tear into it without replacing both of them.

There should be a cork gasket between the axle nut and the hub.

The nut and the hub spline must be tight.

If it wobbles after the nut is tight the hub and or axle spline is shot.

My parts breakdown shows a metal washer between the nut and hub and a cork gasket by the seal. I don"t have a cork gasket by the nut. Are you sure there should be one there?

The cork gasket[seal] goes between the bearing and hub. don b
