No. It's a taper fit and should be so tight you need a puller to separate them.

As TOH said, s/b tight. They start out that way. Then over time the rear axle nut loosens up a bit. Then a bit more. Eventually the hub gets loose on the axle. That's when the wear begins, usually on the hub first, but then onto the axle. Eventually blowing out the old seals. Next you need brake shoes.

Much easier to keep an eye on the axle nut and keep it tight.

good news is they run about 70 bucks brand new....
bad news is they recommend you change the axle at the same time.....
