rear main seal

mf40-me

Just sharing my woes, after putting way too much money, and lots and lots of my time into my mf40's perkins 3.152 diesel (i did a complete rebuild, everything except the timing gears were replaced) I have been bushogging for the past few days, the engine purrs like a kitten, which sounds awesome, but the weep hole under the rear main seal drips like a saint bernard/ Maybe not quite that bad, but dripping nonetheless.

I just don't have the gumption to take it all apart again. I am really hoping that the seal fairy waved her wand at it last night. Only 8 hours!!! David P was right, bepco engine parts are good, but their seals are terrible!!!

Not a permanent fix, but I used the Lucas additive on my old 135 and it nearly put all oil seeps/leaks to an end. The only problem I noticed is oil consumption went way down. I told the new owner about this and as far as I know, he's still using the tractor 2 years later....
