Rear Tires for tractor

Looking to replace the existing 14.9 x28 rear tires (mismatched & weather cracked). What is a good all-around rear tire. The local tractor tire dealer quotes Carlise, they seem to do the job and have not really heard any negative about them. Looking for a good tire for all around use, dirt work, bushhogging & loader work. I will get them loaded for extra weight and traction. Any options of what I should look for??? Thanks Charlie

I have a set of Calstar, (Carlisle) just put on about 2 weeks ago. Can't tell you how well they'll hold up. Have a set of Galaxy EarthPro also on another tractor, been about 8 to10 years now, still in decent shape, 70% maybe. I don't do a lot of tillage, but hay cutting at home and another rented place about 3 miles away, so quite a bit of road travel.

Carlisle and Titan both offer good ag tires made in the US. Around here you see more Titan tires than any other.

I have Titans that came on a 2003 tractor, Carlisle and BKTs on 2 others for 5-7 years. All have been fine for me.

The Titans have been put on a lot of big tractors around here. They support the FFA and are still American owned I believe?

A cheaper one that I put on the A is an Alliance tire. It seems to be fine. I get mine at a local Tire store who can get me stuff overnight if he doesn't have it.

Both Titan and Alliance have a ton of tread patterns so be sure its what you want when they order. If you want the original or if you like a different one be sure and look before they give it to you there's probably 1000 bucks coming out of your pocket at least don't want to look at tires you don't like.

Titan bought Goodyear about 20 years ago. I believe they bought CARLISLE as well just in the last year and changed or shortly before the transfer the name was changed to CARLSTAR. Personally I liked the old name better. I would assume there's some old stock with Carlisle stamped on it for awhile.

Alliance is the brand associated with Yokohama for farm tires I believe.

I’ve had a set of 14.9-28 Alliance on one tractor for over 15 years, they’ve held up well but are showing a good bit of dry checking
We just mounted up a set of Galaxy Earthpro’s on another tractor, I’m impressed with their looks which is very much like the old Firestone Field & Road
Titan has dropped the Titan II design and I don’t know what they replaced it with, I never liked the old long bar short bar design
Another tractor has a set of Firestone Sat II that are over 10 years old, they’ve held up good with not dry checking yet, provide excellent traction but roading has worn them down pretty fast
We also have Goodyear, Mitas and had Michelin radials, the 45 degree thread on the Goodyear and Mitas ride a bit rough. I’ve heard Michelin has corrected the sidewall cracking issues mine had, but tossing a set of pricy radials less than 10 years old with more than 50 percent thread soured me from buying any more

At last check, the Titan factory about 15 miles from me was still part of Goodyear. They are cranking out field and forest tires daily, with no Chinese tariffs.
