I have a 1951 8n. I know that the manuals say set tire pressure at about 12 psi if no load or maybe bush hog. My tractor was showing a lot of 'squat', ie, it looked low on air. to fix the squat, i put in air until the tire was looking more full. the right tire showed over 20 psi and the left showed about 15 psi. the tires are old and have been on the tractor for a long time. how long i do not know, but at least 12 years.
two questions:
1. car tires have a DOT code that shows when the tire was made in week/year format. Do 8n rear tires have a similar feature. if so, where is it and how do i identify it?
2. i do not know if the tire has tubes. I do not think so. how do i correct the 'squat' problem(the tire looks to have a low pressure. when i try to fill it, the pressure is too high)?.
