Rear wheel paint

What color paint is used for the rear wheels on a VAH. The hub is flambeau red. I believe the rim is some kind of silver? I would like to use a rattle can for the silver, what brand do you guys recommend that will last a few years?

Take the time to paint your wheel rims with a brush. That way you can detail around the clamp blocks and won't have to deal with over spray on the tires. Could also prevent unwanted silver dust on other parts of your tractor Brand of paint is a matter of availability. Silver painted rims will require touch up on a regular baisis, unless you remove the rims from the tractor and professionally apply acrilic or synthetic enamel.

If the tractor is just going to be a show or parade tractor another thought would be silver powder coat, although the tires would have to be removed and reinstallation done by a very careful installer to avoid damage to the coating.

One of the guys in my antique tractor and engine club powder coated the rims of his SC and they looked great. Powder coat would not have to be reapplied periodically BUT it is not as resistant to impacts and cannot be powder coat touched up. Again this option would just be for show or parade tractors.

Good advice! I would love to have them powder coated. I had my BF Avery model A wheels powder coated years ago they still look brand new.

I like Rustoleum hammered finish silver for my wheels. It comes in a spray can and is easy to use. Just wire wheel or similar prep the surface and paint, no priming needed. I used on my SC a couple years ago, still looks good. It leaves a finish similar to new silver rims. Also works well if there is some pitting.

I like Rustoleum paints, they seem to flow nicely and are very durable. I"ve seen this product on the shelf but have never used it, I think I will give it a try.
