rear wheel stuck

Any good ideas for getting a suck wheel off of a 6030? back of wedge is already broke off. All bolts are removed, bolts that you turn in to push wedge back are either broke or already turned all the way in.Have a jack and chain on outside, and also a jack on the inside. What else can I try????? using plenty of penetrating oil too.

Try to hammer out the pinion pin, take out the three outside bolts, remove the three inside ones if you can, set a good 20 ton jack against the load shaft area of the transmission, put a couple of "good" solid blocks from the jack to the cast hub, I use a floor jack and a 2X6 to hold all this up,(keep the jack pump on the down side),pump it till it's real tight,,and then a couple of more pumps,,then smack the end of the axel "REAL" hard a few times, it will come loose...

I have yet to try Tim's method, but I do know that smacking the end of the axleshaft while under some sort of load/tension works "Better" than whacking the hell out of the wedges.

The bigger and heavier the mass of the striking iron the better. I once had the same wedge problem you have on a 4630 and a few blows with a piece of 6x6 steel block that weighed about 120 lbs. knocked it loose.

A guy west of me was trying to get 4630 wheels loose years ago, he had 2 rose buds heating the hub, a sleeve made to fit over the axle and line up on the wedges,,then a 500 lb wheel wieght hanging on a chain off a back hoe bucket swinging the wieght,,no one got hurt...but it's a wonder. I get some "real" tuff ones in here, and 4630 style are one of the worst, the long taper realy holds onto the axle.

(quoted from post at 19:01:51 08/04/10) Thanks Tim, it worked just as you said! Thanks!

Hey Jugs you should of emailed Gpuller- they just got done with this same situation on their 4620. Never broke the lip off a wedge (YET) its hard enough the way it is but with that lip broke off that makes it really good and hard to work with.

Drop me a email sometime- would like to know what your doing with the 6030 HP wise- building a 5020 and going basically the same route you are.
