I see batteries for sale listed as reconditioned on craigs list, for 75.00 How do you recondition a battery? I would rather spend more for a new one. Stan

reconditioning batteries involves melting down the lead , purification and casting new plates .

I was charging a 12 V battery. I had it sitting on a box in my shed. I came out after a while and the box had collapsed and the battery fell over spilling out all it's acid. I went to an auto supply store a purchased new acid and the guy told me that with that new acid, the battery would probably last a lot longer than it normally would. The acid comes in a box with individual packets in it. You just cut off the top and pour it in each cell.

Check out the youtube videos of the third world guys rebuilding batteries in the dirt. I have a NOCO Genius charger with the Repair circuit, and it does work on batteries that are marginal. Run it overnight, comes up some, run it again ovenight, a little better. I also whack the case around the perimeter with a big rubber hammer to loosen things up between charges

Ido not ever rember of hearing of reconditiong batterys but years ago (50?) There was what was called rebuilt batterys being sold. Scofar as I know they took bateries with a bad cell and cut them apart and took a cell from a different battery that had a good cell that would fit and gluing that cell in to make a good testing battery. I never had any but an uncle tried them a few times and about every month he was having to get a different battery, the replaced cell or a different cell had gone bad

It's amazing to watch some of the stuff those Pakistani's do. I've watch a lot of those videos and the really funny part is that they never use a ratchet wrench. They use sockets but none of them have ratchets. They use an "L" shaped thing to stick in their sockets.
