Reducing fuel usage in 2394

I would like to use my 2394 with duals to pull a fertilizer cart but it uses quite a bit of fuel. Can anyone give me ideas about reducing fuel consumption. Loss of power should not be an issue.

The governor in the injection pump only pumps enough fuel in to accomplish the task you are asking the engine to do. Lessen the load will lessen fuel consumption and vise versa. If the engine is in proper tune and in good condition there is not much you can change. Bad fuel injectors or bad cly compression or something out of time and plugged air filters would be things to check. Rod.

Many jobs I can run my 2590 at 1300-1400 rpm instead of full throttle.

Throttle back and shift up cuts fuel usage on most machines. If you need pto speed, options are limited

I will be using a 1000 rpm tractor on a 540 buggy so the problem will be keeping the pto speed down. Thanks to you both for the replies.
