refilling steering gear box...

51 8n...

I've cleaned everything up and painted it. Now I'm reattaching everything back to the tractor.

I stupidly didn't pay attention (I try to take pictures of everything I'm doing so I don't need to remember) but I don't recall how full the gear box was with the fluid...

Any idea how much I'm supposed to add???

Hah! I just noticed that hole when I was putting it back together and figured... I'd better ask before I do something stupid.

It was definitely low before then, as I'd actually tipped it on its side and the oil came out but I didn't put two and two together.

Thank you!

It was definitely low before.....
It was probably low before from leaking out over time (most, if not all, antique tractors seem to have leaking steering boxes)

May wanna consider using a thin grease, like JD Corn Head grease

Definitely finding some things that look like they haven't been touched in 70 years.

Thanks for the information!
