Remote Cylinder

I bought a remote cylinder at an auction. It has a casting number of R27424R. It is either black with some green paint showing through or vice versa. Single cylinder stop. 1" pins. One ear of the cylinder stop is broken off. Any idea on what era of tractors this was produced with?

I am hardly qualified to answer. But in the absence of those who are, maybe I'll get the ball rolling. I know in 1966 they were black. I'm guessing the change in color was near the "new" generation in the early 60's

Devon, without looking at the parts book it's fairly easy to tell what you have. Look to see what style of thread is on the hose inlet. If it's pipe thread it's an older, low pressure cylinder. If it is a straight, O-ring thread then it's a cylinder for a New Generation tractor. Also, 3" and 2 1/2" cylinders look very similar. The difference between them is the smaller cylinder will have a cast in groove on the side of the cylinder parallel to the rod. A 3" cylinder is smooth in this area. A 3 1/2" cylinder is obviously bigger. Hope this helps. Mike
