Removing sleeves

I am interested in acquiring one of those sleeve crushing tools and a sleeve installer shown on the 19th/ 20th page of the Ford Service Manual for N tractors. FO_9N-2N-8N_SV Looks like rebuilding one of these 4 bangers will be a blast. Especially if the thing ever runs again. Oh I have to run down to the corner of a street not far away in the morning and inrerview the guys hanging there to see how many have any experience in anything. It seems that the numbers there have increased 15-20 fold in the last few months. Not much work around here anymore and they will help you out for a lot less than they would last year. I have some good paint removing work left to do and sanding on tin etc etc. It is supposed to be much worse next year so I guess the day laborers will increase a lot if things don t change because they ain t goi ng south it seems. Sounds mercenary on my part but I ain t up to the heat out there right now so that is my only out as far as getting much done around here. Can t let these tractors just bask in the glory of ownership. They must get up and git ur dun pretty soon. Devious

I underwent chemo 3 yrs ago and after a lifetime of enduring the Tx sun,I can't do it anymore,much less with a bunch of bad discs.I get all of my doings done early and retreat to the a/c,in house or truck.Had a/c in all other vehicles,didn't use it,now I do,so I know how tough it is out there,even though most of the yd is heavy shade.Hang in there.---lha

TOH may jump in. He sells a sleeve removal and installation tool. Much better then the crush type.

Devious: I recently rebuilt an N engine. Used the $89.00 TOH sleeve toolset. Worked flawlessly and completed the re-sleeving in a very short time. Almost foolproof.

Thanks for the reply on the sleeves, Dr. Bert. I think the only way I can do a OHaul on any of my engines is to do them myself because the prices some of the other rebuilds that have been talked about at their Mechanics shops are just too costly for me to mentally absorb. Might be checkin in with you for other items also since you have been over this road. Thanks again Devious
