Replace SOS with a 5 Speed

I have a 981 SOS that the tractor won"t move anymore. If I want to change it over to a 5 speed do I need to replace the rear end as well? If not what do I need to change?

You need not replace the rear end to swap your S-O-S to a 5 speed if you can find a 5 speed from a similar vintage. You will need to swap the PTO shaft. Of course you will need the appropriate clutch and clutch actuation parts as well.

Are you sure that the traction disconnect has not become disconnected?

Does the PTO work?

Yeah, I know the disconnect as not come disconnected I have been having trouble with it and I have found metal shavings in the transmission fluid.

dont forget the flywheel the flywheels between a sos and a standard are as different as night and day
