Replacement ignition switch

I guess it's been 30 years since I replaced the ingnition switch on my 8N. Checked with NAPA today about an Echlin KS6041 which I searched and is the one recommended. WOW! $54 for a 2 terminal ignition switch!

I know what you mean about the switches they have now days. I have replaced the switch on my Case VAC at least 5 times in less then 5 years due to them going bad

Ok further investigation KS6041 is 3 terminal 3 position switch. Looks like what I want is a KS6040 2 terminal 2 position switch, this is less than half the price than the 3 terminal 3 position.

(quoted from post at 10:33:50 01/13/23) This site sells the switch for less than $10.00

I used one from this site for quite a few years now. Have not had a problem.

I saved the original, glad I did. Tracking down a no spark problem that turned out to be the coil. Now I still have the OEM one as a spare.

So if it is still working fine, why are you replacing it? I would advise the OEM style as shwin below in the LINK. Cloth fabric covered,
correct wire colors, and last forever. Te cheap vinyl switches can fail easily. I had one rubbing on thetoolbox and soon it exposed teh bare
starnds and shorted out. Just saying,

Run from those so called cheap switches they are just plan JUNK!

I may have ran across another NAPA switch that works I am not in the shop to research it.
Never would have thought the key would come out in the run position, didn't say anything in the online listing. My local store does show 1 in stock so I'll stop by and check it out. They didn't have the KS6041 in stock when I checked.
I have had enough of junk parts! Even the name brands have turned to crop.

New catalog does not tell ya, this is a 1998 catalog.

OK, I've got an ignition switch that's a good switch. My local independent store carries Standard Motor Products brand. Owner went to the shelf and pulled off exactly what I wanted. It's a 2 terminal 2 position ignition switch. Key does not come out in the on position, only in the off position and comes with the backup nut and the outer bezel. Looks like the Echlin in the pictures, probably the same part. Part # is US64 and was $20.
Thanks Hobo for the pics and links

That number crossed to a NAPA 6040.

Advance auto # CSA1814.

I will check out the advance switch next time I am there and note it in my catalog.

I would wager they are a P.O.S. also. I have got DC Restoration quality electrical parts for Ford trucks they were the same garbage.

I installed the switch and it fits perfectly and works as it should. I know I installed the previous switch back when I bought the tractor over 30 years ago and the new switch takes the same key blank as the one I'm replacing. Switch I pulled off has Made in USA cast into the outer housing. I'll hang that on the wall somewhere, it will be a collectors item some day.
