Replacement rims

I thought this attached to my other post about the Power Adjust rims on 1963 MF HC 65 but apparently it didn't. IO will try to do better, in the future.

What exact rims could be used to replace the Power Adjust rims on MF 65 High Clearance tractor Tires are 13.6-38 on 6 rail, Power Spin-out 12 inch rims. What would it consist of changing them to standard rims?

I looked at the rims again this morning and believe at least one of them could be saved and reworked. The other one is almost rusted through 1/3 of the way around the outside of the rim.

You mentioned before that you want to keep the tractor original. As far as I know, the rims that are on it were the only style offered on a 65 high arch. Have you checked with any tractor junkyards for good original rims?

No I haven't tried as of yet. I do want to keep it original but what I was actually thinking was finding some other tires and wheels that would fit on it. Remove the original ones and take my time repairing them if possible.

Thought I could come more finding used 12-38 None spin out wheels and tires.

Once I had the old ones off I could take my time and repair them no matter how bad they were once I got them off. I don't have the shop space to be able to have it down and not moving for that long

Just got a new to me mig welder and needing the practice. What other wheels and tires could be put on it? Regular type wheel and Non Spin-out

I think 38 inch wheels from a 3 cylinder Ford 4000 might fit.

Ive got a 65, have the same problem, I bought a rim deep set from an outfit in Oregon. Welded four tabs to match the center piece bolt holes. It works perfect. The
rusted rims just fall apart when you remove the rubber. My other rear rim has similar problems but is holding. Shipping is the big issue, about $500.00 all together.
Those adjustable spin outs are pretty much useless.

IH used similar rims on the 300/350 Farmall tractors with the power slide rims. Those are hard to find - I looked for almost 12 years for my 350 before I lucked into a pair that were in good shape for $200.
New ones I believe are around $400 each.

The two I took off had horrible tires on them and I stripped the tires and patched the rims using an old double bevel 38 rim to cut the patches from. I had to replace about 1/3 the metal on each side that
had the valve stem. Sanded and painted them and sold them for $300 to a another guy who needed them.

The Farmall had 38 rims with 6 slides and mounted 13.6 X 38 tires.

Looking on internet it looks like

38 X 12 6 rail were used by Case- Deutz Allis- Ford- Kubota- Massey Ferguson

38 X 14 6 rail were also used by Case- Deutz Allis- Ford- Kubota- Massey Ferguson

Does anyone know if all of the 6 rail Power Adjust rims should be the same on these brands.

Central Delaware. He's got a 65, in what
looks to be decent shape, for 1k. It has
new tires.

easy enough to switch to standard rims, they'll bolt right on. You'll need switch to the shorter(standard) front spindles, and take the spacers out from under the rear fenders. Thats about it tho.

The only reason for even thinking about changing rim type is to be able to have it to where it could be moved around while getting rims repaired or replaced.

Hopefully the one rim that is really bad will last until the correct wheels can be found.Just exploring my options.

You or someone with the knowledge needs to write an article about what rims will fit or interchange from brand to brand. The cost of these new rims making it almost impossible to justify buying them.

The only reason the guy that has the older tractor with the new tires is able to get a $1000.00 for his tractor is because of the prices of the new tires and rims. Not a lot of use for a tractor or tires and rims for older tractors.

Tractors of this size and age really only serve the purpose for us old guys to be able to plow their gardens once a year and have something to spend our time and money on after retirement.

Granted there are many exceptions. But how many farmers you see these days cultivating 500 - 1000 acres of cotton with a 65 MF High Crop tractor on propane (and making a living while doing it). Those days day gone, what is left is what people do with these old tractors. Spend time restoring them for parades, small gardens, blading driveway etc.

I know most if not all of you understand where I am coming from. Thanks for you help. Will let you know what I end up doing.

I have checked with all of the tractor salvages anywhere close to me and have been unable to find any used rims to fit this tractor.

Are there any blank rims that may be available that the existing rails could be removed from my tractor rims and put on a new blank rim?

If so exactly what rim would I need to do this?

I may have to buy new rims but I am going to explore every option before doing it. The closest new rim I could find was in South Dakota. The shipping alone on the rim was around $250.00 dollars.
