Replacement Truck

Well, boiys, this will probably start a war more than I would like but heres my question: Time has come for me to replace my 01 Ford F350 while I still have time before its value drops too bad.(Diesel has just gotten too bad) What Im thinking of is something like a F250, or Dodge or Chevy eqivilant, gas engine, 4 door,(Got a family) and NOT a diesel ,and not a dually. So whats out there now? Most I ever haul is my Dads M once or twice a year. Would like maybe a Dodge 2500 with a Hemi. Anybody got one of those? Hows it do? Leaning away from Chevy right now since the buttugly body style are the only used ones Im finding.

Anyone nowadays would be better of with an old chopped of school buss!Put a ramp on back and go.No computer to mess everything up and a lot simpler and you can work on it,and haul youre jd on it. Later Hoss

GM has those HD2500's in a Crew Cab that should pull plenty with right equipment. You get the bigger gas 6.0 litre engine standard. GMC's seem to have better looks in grill area now. "Butt Ugly" just takes a little longer to like. Remember the 04 Dodges were called Ugly when they came out. Now people Love that look. I really think any newer US made truck is good value. Don't get the Toyota, US made or not....from a GM truck builder!

The son of a friend traded his diesel Dodge for a hemi, a while back, when the price of diesel was higher than gas. He found that it got about half the MPG's that the diesel did, so it still cost more to drive, then summer came and the price of gas was higher than diesel again and he was really sorry he did it. If you don't need to haul much, maybe a mini pickup would be the way to go. You could borrow or rent a big pickup for the couple of times a year you need to haul the M.

John, A buddy of mine just traded for an 08 Dodge Mega-Cab, 4x4, 5.7 Hemi gas/w the Lifetime Warrenty! He has 3000 miles on it as of last Friday, it is getting Hi 15s on it so far, also it is setting on 8 hole wheels on 16 in tires. It is a very impressive truck.
OBTW He choose the 1/2t to over the 3/4t because there is only 600lbs of carring wt difference between the two. That translates to a set of overload springs!
The Mega-Cab trucks 1/2, 3/4, & 1ts are all built on the same jigs, frame, springs and the like. So he is basically getting a 3/4 t truck for a 1/2 t price. Go look At a Mega-Cab You will be impressed, I was and I am Ford to the Core, to a Fault.
This Lifetime warrenty is not something to sneeze at it has real teeth to it. He also picked up a second warrenty to cover what the Dodge warrenty doesn't, it cover stuff like wiper blades, light bulbs and other small things. His is the SLT and got it in the neighborhood of 28k, he had 2 rival dealers Crapping all over themselves to make this deal, One dealer guarentees to be lower or he will cut you a $2000 check. So far it looks like he will be getting a check.

Diesel hasnt been lower than gas here for at least 3 years now. When I got the 350, it was a good 75 cent cheaper, now its more than 80 cents more. Im afraid that my entire family wouldnt fit in a mini pickup. I stand 6'4" and can barely fit in my brothers Ranger.

Don"t know about the mega-cab but as far as a regular crew cab truck goes I think GMs have the most room in the rear seats. We have an "04 Chevy 2500 crew cab with the 6.0 and it is really a nice truck. The most we"ve pulled with it is about #5000 of hay plus the trailers weight and it pulls that with no problems at all.
