Replacing points in 8N Front Mount.

Working on a tractor that already had the distributor removed when I got it. Installing points has been beat to death here, but when I look at pics of the distributor it appears there is a piece of brass between the top screw of the points and the condenser screw? Is it in the points kit? The pics I see vary from a flat straight attachment to bent and homemade? Also, I don't see or hear it mentioned in any the videos on replacing the points. Is there a connection between the condenser screw and the and the breaker arm side of the points?

This is not in the points or tune up kits. You can order one on this site, or simply make your own from any conductive metal. I have one cut from a Skoal can lid that has worked fine for over 20 years.

I would guess that you are speaking of the part marked by red arrow. It is not in kit, as it is "riveted" fork lack of a better word and not readily replaceable as it was from factory, but you can place such a strip under the screws or just use a piece of wire to connect the two.

Since I was having problems getting it running (7 years since last ran) I decided to just start from scratch. Bought a full tune up kit and replaced points, condenser, distributer, coil, plugs, plug wires, and that little thing-a-majig I asked about too! Runs better than new. Probably overkill but I got a long season of mowing ahead and need it to be reliable. Already replaced the gas tank because of rust and a new radiator since I live in the desert and most of my mowing time will be 95+ temps. Now I just need to get the brush hog off the other, non-running, tractor and hook it up. Thanks for the help!
