Thanks Rod and JJ2 when we had the valve off all the spools seemed to move rather freely so I would say that the damage is inside. Which wouldn"t surprise me because they were running a very keep oil in the rear end. I don"t understand why certain people will try to save $100 on oil when it costs them thousands in the long run.

Whenever a CASE tractor is operated with a pilot spool open because its stuck on when it should be off, makes a clutch pack slip and get hot. Operated long enough permanent damage occurs. What started out as a simple problem turns into a big problem. It can happen to anyone not knowing the symptoms, Rod.
