after having had my 3000 for a while now i figured I'd give an update.

Her duty has been 100% dedicated to mowing. and while I love the 4 cyl jobs I have.. I really love this 3000 diesel.. seems to be very fuel efficient.. very reliable on starting even after setting.. etc.. etc.

I'm glad you guys talked me into a diesel on my quest for a 3 cyl 2000/3000.

thanks

my gas 3000 and 2000 are a pain in the arse... Between gas plugging the carb and high humidity fouling the distribitor..

while my 3000 gas with the 730 loader was probably the best tractor I ever owned, diesel is the way to go. I could shave a porkypine with this tractor, pick up rocks without ever getting off the tractor.. the loader was so perfect I could load and unload anything from boulders to rye seed with it..

but let it barely spit outside and the damn distribitor would condinsate over and crossfire... had to pull the cap and wipe it dry and then it might run if it felt like it. otherwise I cleared 30 acres with it. worked out two creeks, dug two tanks and built about 16 building with it. I hung trusses and put singles on the roof with it. I borrow a neighbors loader and put a loader on each side of building, supported the roof from each side and totally tore the walls out and rebuilt them. I set telephone poles, fence poles, pulled fence poles and you name it. I square baled with it in 3rd gear and round baled with it in first gear..

While I have now got 13 tractors, the 3000 was the most verstile I have ever owned. the 7710s, 6700, 6600, 5600s,3400, 4000 and jd2010, and 4430 dont hold a prayer to it. oh yeah, dont forget the hydro tc30 toy as well so its 14 tractors as my wife just reminded me.

I'm not a fan of the distrib placement ont he 2000/3000 3 cyl machines.. too darn cramped inthere...

Soundguy, think you are in a warmer climate then me. My 3000 starts great all summer long but gets hard starting when the weather cools off.

Plus it's not near as purty as yours! :D

I have yet to have that problem but if I did I would try a new distributor cap. Some old caps sweat like a mule when its damp out,, a new cap will usually fix it.

I am not sure why but have ran across this now and again on cars/trucks/tractors. fords always seam to B the worst

Did you happen to notice that my reply was in reply to SOTXBILL who was talking about GASSER 2000/3000 they DO have distribuitors last time I checked.
