repowered tractor with chevy 350

I have aquired a 8n or 9n ford repowered with a chevy 350 and a rochester 4 barrel carb. it has a 20 gal fuel tank on it that is about 3/4 full to 7/8 full. it has not run since 1996 and has sat ouside in the pacific northwest with average rainfall of 65-85 inches a year. the tank was sealed with the cap. now my questions. I would like to try to start it with the existing fuel and see if it runs (expecially at 3.20 a gal). What is the best/prefered way? Do I treat the gas with anything first? Should I do anything to the engine before I try to turn it over? Any info, tips, ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to say this but that gas is good for one thing and thats to burn brush etc. Drain it out or you will have more problems then worth out of it

Do the normal service checks on the engine. You"re talking about 15 gallons of old gas- dump some Sta-Bil into it, use the stirring stick- or with an extra long straw, blow a bunch of ether into the gas- all you need is a bit of kickstart. If you have access to ethanol blended gasoline like we who live in the "cutting edge state of biofuels"- MN- dump some of that in the fuel tank- ethanol absorbs moisture that has accumulated over the years.

Drain out that old gas and put in a few gallons of fresh. Once (if) you get it running, you can mix the old gas half and half with fresh gas if you're really intent on using it up.

Just to see if it will fire up, dump a little gas down the carb. Replace the air filter before you crank so a backfire won't start a fire.

whoops-didn't complete post--no.-1996 fuel will not burn enough to run engine. had experience with old IH winch truck with dual saddle tanks, trying to save near 80 gals.the cost of additives-octane booster added up. did finally slowly add treated old fuel to new, but never ran really good til it was all gone.

I seen a Farmall B repowered with a 350 go on ebay for about 1000$ a couple = few years ago. I had working pto and everything...

That would be real nice.... Supercharge, turbocharge anything....

Could you really pull a plow or wagon though... I have no idea--- none at all.

Anybody have experience with this conversion first hand?

Drain all of that old gas and dispose of it,try draining any gas in the carb bowl,andclean all gas filters.Check for water in oil pan ,especially if parked outside........

Problem is, you need to get the v8 up to about 3000 RPM to get into its HP range....by that time your doing 60 MPH.....

Save it to clean parts...mix 50/50 with fresh gas and use it in small engines....etc. lawnmower....
