Request knowledge.

Need knowledge. I bought ahome and an Allis Chalmers tractor came with it. I want to get it running but i cant figure out model and year.

I say it's a later model B.
Everything looks like a B except the tractor number stamped on the transmission which should start with B.
The C has a wider rear tread than the B and the one in the picture.
The steering arm points up on a C rather than down like that on a B and the one in the picture.
The later Bs did have this style adjustable front axle and the deep dish rear wheels like the C.
Maybe a B with a transplanted C transmission?
The drawbar is not original which would be curved rather than square like the one in the picture. Can't explain that!

Thank you. How can I determine the year?
It is '48 or newer as the straight front axle was first introduced then as well as the deep dish rear wheel. That said, they still made the curved front axle and the more flat rear wheels, with the single nut holding them on, after that point as well. I have both styles and they are both '48's. If yours has battery ignition that is original, it's likely '52 or newer.

To me it appears to be a mutt as in parts and pieces of a B and a C

Thank you so much .

Serial number says C, but the rest looks B. B steering, B grill, and the rear looks narrow like the B. Someone may have done a tranny swap at some point.

View attachment 80196Agree it is a B with a C transmission. It also has a cracked boot on the shift lever. If it has been outside it may well have water in the transmission/rear end that came in the crack and down the shift lever. Important to keep a good boot on them if they are going to get wet. If or when you change the trans oil don't forget the final drives. Many don't bother with them and sometimes the ancient gear oil is nasty. For the trans/rear end at least pull the drain plug and see if you get any water that will settle to the bottom. If the oil looks like light colored coffee it is mixed with water from running the tractor. The correct oil for the trans is 90 weight gear oil unless a tractor has hydraulics then it was 20 weight engine oil. In either case you can use "tractor lube", a general purpose trans hydraulic oil.

Looks like it is converted to 12v. Not sure what the regulator looking box hanging by the alternator is. What do you have for ignition? Mag or distributor? Could you show a pick of the other side? You can find the year of the tractor by the engine number I believe. You do have a B with a C tranny or case on it. The parts to make the engine go are the same with a B or C. But they are different with different ignitions. Go luck and keep us posted.
