Will may sound stupid,,,oh well

I havea 9n with a loader If I reverse the rear wheels the tractor will be wider on the back and I should have better stability on the rear??
is that make any sense??

So I would remove the rear tire and spin around and atach again so will be wider on the rear?
any danger?

This is exactly the reason everyone tells new guys that they really do need to buy a set of manuals for their tractor. So they don't have to reinvent the wheel so to speak.

I have an 8N that is set up odd . The right side is all the way in and the left side is about half way out .

I did this so I could mow close to the fences and tree line on the right side while I keep the left side on the down hill side . I don't know if it really is any safer but it makes me feel warm and fuzzy about the deal .

I "reverse" my wheels (fronts and rears) when I cultivate so they track inbetween the furrows. I ran my rotary mower once with the wheels set up that way, and it does give you better stability, but for mowing, you end up driving over your grass twice before it gets cut.

Only real thing to remember is to swap left to right and v/v so your tread is still pointing the right way (don't ask).

With all of the tires, as wide as they will go on an 8N tractor...

I sure would be curious to see what it would take to flip it.

Nope, my "test pilot" days are history....

If you just remove & spin them around, the tread pattern will be backwards. The correct way is to remove both wheels, then swap left and right side wheels to keep the pattern rolling "forward'.

The reason Ford changed to the looped rims and scalloped centers was so you could change wheel widths much easier. You don't have to remove the wheel AND center every time.
