I have a 48"Rigid pipe wrench I'm looking to restore..The new company I work for supplies all tools so my big rigid may become a showpiece in my garage ..any ideas where I can get the paint?

I may be all wrong but it seems to me the original Rigid tools were bright red. The ones sold under that name by Home Depot are orange

I'll tell ya I tried that about ten years ago and they wouldn't sell you the paint. Just what happen to me. It is a Vermillion color. Used to be called Orange, Red. Look at the old Texaco gas stations. The Bumper posts were painted that color.

If it's very important to you, you might consider automotive paint. The color orange contains red and is bad to fade. The cheaper the paint the more it will be prone to fade. I cheaped out one time and painted a Kubota tractor with tractor supply tractor paint and it faded to a peach color within two years.

The original Rigid tools where RED. The "new" stuff is the orange color. I paint all of mine with IH red. It makes them look new. Then the jaws black

I just had to laugh when you say restore a pipe wrench, all 4?, pieces.

It reminded me of the story about the old wood cutter and his axe, he had the same one for over 30 years only replaced the head twice and the handle 6-8 times. Lol

On a serious note I think I would powder coat it instead as that would probably be more durable and not much more cost than the paint.

Your post made me chuckle......I have been collecting Rigid pipe wrenches for years; from 6" size on up. I must have 20 or so.
I really don't do much plumbing but they come in handy for other things too.
Up until a couple of years ago, the biggest I had was a 24".
Then, I spied a 48" at a garage sale for $25.....'just could not pass it up. LOL now, if I can get a 36" for 15 or 20 bucks, , I'll really be happy.
BTW, I was helping my B.I.L. install the piping for a 275 gal oil tank and we started out using his Chinese Rigid "wannabes" and they did not grip well at all. His were brand new and looked real "purdy"! The Rigid wrenches are far and away better!

I have my on another rigid 48" for
50.00..it's 60 miles away..I'm trying
to justify the drive for something I
don't need..lol
