Rock auto prices

Has any bought from Rock auto. I was looking at two items, both Trico Winter Wiper Blades. Locally the blades are around $18.
Rock Auto had them for under $5 each. Seems very low I wonder what the catch is.

They do what they do.
they let you research and build the sale
all on your own.
I usually dismiss them and go for ebay or one of their competitors
I can use rockauto for part numbers
then use those at google shopping for options
I do not like the rock auto customer service (no phone number)
sometimes a purchase at ebay comes from amazon as some amazon prime member can ship it to me at the lowest price at ebay

And wipers.......
oh the evolution we have experienced like shavers multibladed
trico anco and then all the other
I stock up on walmart wipers at $5 or less when I am there.
just toss em out and replace
I tried to build a $25 free ship order but wipers don't qualify

sandy salty winters
my windshield is so scratched already
every morning scraping that wet frozen sharp sanded mass as hard as I can

I have been using Parts Train. The search works very well, and prices are very good. One $50.00 molded plastic cooling system part looked identical to OEM in all of the pics except one. When I got it there was a FOMOCO in that area that had apparently been photoshopped out for the parts train site.

The cost of shipping is usually the issue.

I do use Rock Auto, Amazon, sometime Ebay if I can wait a few days for the parts.

Just make sure what you're buying is the correct part for your car....they'll pay for return shipping if the part is defective, but not if you ordered the wrong part.

I have found Advance Auto has 20%-30% discount coupons if you order online and pick up in the store. You can see if the store has it in stock before you place the order.

If you have a $20 order they will ship it to you for free. I joined their perks reward program and with that you get cash back on the next purchase You can still use their coupon codes with it. I recently bought a battery from them. Original cost was $125.99. With my perks reward I had, I got $40 off that and using a coupon code I got another $21.50 off. It ended up costing $64.49. They wouldn't ship the battery though but that is the only thing they haven't shipped to me yet.

Parts train? I havent heard of that one yet, but i dont understand your post, you ordered something that mostly looked correct, but from there you lost me, it was the correct part from a knock off, was it a ford motor company part number, was it just not even correct, or....? was the 50 dollar part high or low?

There is no "catch" with RockAuto, you just have to remember a few things.
First, I always compare the cost of my items with Amazon or other sources online. Sometimes I can get it from other sources, but RockAuto is hard to beat.
Second, when you have several items in your cart, see if you can get everything to ship from one warehouse. Quite often, a good deal can suddenly go bad because items are being shipped from two or more warehouses. RockAuto does not have free shipping, but usually the shipping is pretty good unless you are shipping something quite heavy. If RockAuto wants to do shipping from several places, Amazon's free shipping will usually win. Add or delete items from your cart to try to have it ship from one warehouse.
Also use the %5 discount code. After using RockAuto one time, they will send 5% off shipping codes. Or, you can search for codes online.
Three, sending cores back to RockAuto can sour a deal, especially when they want it sent back on your dime. If you buy a cored item, also think that the core will not get sent back.
Four, unlike an local auto parts store, you can't hold the item before you buy it. Sometimes, I'll decline parts from the local FLAPS because I can tell that it's junk.
Five, RockAuto has lots of discontinued parts you might be interested in, especially if you have an older vehicle. Most all discontinued parts ship from the same Sugarland, Texas warehouse and will save on your shipping. Several months ago, I got a full set of discontinued connecting rod and crankshaft bearings for an Oliver 70 for really cheap because they were discontinued.
Good luck. RockAuto can be a great source of parts, just be careful and research the parts that you intend to buy.

Rock Auto is nothing more than an office building.
They stock nothing, anywhere.
They are actually a "third party" reseller and sell others wares via their website.
Much like ebay.

I've had good luck with Rock auto getting parts for old and obsolete vehicles. Just got a heater core for my 81 GMC. It is chinese built aluminum but the price was right. Brake parts for the 52 Merc were available and reasonable prices. Usually better than amazon or ebay as the shipping can be expensive for those two.

The part that came was not only exactly as ordered at a fraction of what the repair shop quoted, but it had the Ford logo molded into it. The Parts Train site did not describe it as OEM as no doubt they are not permitted to do, so the pic of the view where the Logo would have been showed just uninterrupted black plastic. sorry for the short explanation.

just received my order from Rockauto.com. Bought 4 Trico Ice Wiper Blades that sell here for $18. each Paid $24 Total for 4 blades including
shipping. Such a Deal
