Rocker arm assembly

Just a question......Does the rocker shaft "free float" within the rocker stands, or is it stationary so that the oil holes stay at the bottom? If stationary, what keeps it in place? Thanks

The rocker shaft has a locating pin that fits into a rocker stand. (I checked the Shop Manual for a good photo, but I couldn't find one. Maybe someone has a better picture.)

That's perfect John D. Thank you very much. The diagram shows perfectly, what I was visualizing ! Ron

In the ends of tube there should be small corks in each end.I find them missing often on rebuilds. The cotter keys at the very end keeps it in place. One on each end. This make sure the oil comes out holes to lube arms. You can buy them at Hobby Lobby.Come's in a small sack.
