rockshaft wineing

I have my 3020 running the haybine and while the three point is up out of the way i get a pretty loud winning sound coming from the rockshaft area if i drop the arms noise quits. draft lever in D position oil level is good. whats making the noise.? Thanks for any help on this Doug.R

Sounds like a pressure relief valve is sticking or stuck ..

You will need to go thru the aujments for the load and depth control

Update - went out and changed the draft control lever to L D arms only come up half way now but clear the haybine tongue and the noise has been greatly reduced think this will work.Thanks

hello, perhaps the thermal relief valve is letting hi pressure by. standing behind tractor with RH cover removed there is a rear plate cover on the rockshaft control valve housing, on top is a plug for 1/2 inch wrench. inside is a spring, shim washers, and a small triangle valve with a taper on end. lower lift before removal, use pencil magnet to pull out valve. the taper end will look like it is damaged, which it is. if you can't get a new one try to smooth the tip end some, drop it in and use a long punch on top of it, give a couple whacks to try to seat it some, then stuff as many washers as you can and still get the plug started back.
