Roosa Master injector pump cracked

Yet another hurdle.. went to install a new EID and re-assemble with new seals and during clean up... noticed the case is cracked. *sigh*.

Is this catastrophic? Has anyone tried to weld these (DBG) cases and re-machine?

It's what I want to do since they are few and far between.

I'd just replace it... I don't think they're that difficult to acquire. If they were hard to find I'd probably just run it the way it is provided it's not leaking.

Yeah, won't know if it leaks until it's back on the tractor (unless we can find someone to test). Might try as is..

You wouldn't happen to have a source that might have a case would you?

I would think any authorized fuel injection shop would be able to get you whatever parts you need for that pump or a complete pump... I didn't say it would be cheap but it should be available. Roosa DB's are one of the most common pumps in the world.

I have had real good results from Badger Diesel in Badger Wisconsin, Try him he may have a used part.

That's NASTY! Did it get water in it and freeze?

Local pump shop got me a good used one for a Deere quite reasonably a while back. He had access to a used parts source. Don't know if that is common to all the authorized Stanadyne shops or not?

No idea, all we know about this tractor is that it sat in a garage for about 12 years after the tranny stopped working

Man do I appreciate this lead. I called them, nice guys, and he said I might not have to worry about it. That plate underneath the governor spring is not really doing anything and the crack shouldn't hurt performance. Just warned me that any loose, or could become loose, parts should be removed.

I'm still in the brazing camp however. That might ensure that it won't grow or develop any new loose bits later as well as give it a bit of strength it doesn't have today...

I think if you had a profession pump rebuilder tell you to leave it alone and run it as is... I'd take his advice. I was leaning that way anyhow. Hearing it from a pro would seal the deal for me.
Keep the brass away from that.

May have a good used one if you want, but I would run it as is.

Yeah, you're all right. I think I will put her back together as is and see what happens.

BTW dieseltech, I would appreciate hearing more about the one you have, wouldn't hurt to have a back up.
