Rotavator

We are trying to decide whether to buy a rotavator? We farm organically and are trying to cut down on tillage trips. Looking at a Howard or a Kuhn tiller, which one is better, We have local dealers of Kuhn, while Howard would be much farther away.

Both are great, my dad bought a kuhn and its chewed up hard clay soil for years and works great with never any problems. Its also stored outside in the yard and its about 10 years old and it looks like it did when it was new except where the paint wore off and the decal faded. But other then that its been used and abused with zero problems.

We have a 10 foot Howard Rotospike. It does a nice job, and we have eliminated the disc completely from our tillage process. One pass after plowing is the same as 4 trips over the ground with a disc, only better.

What is really nice, is if you are doing organic, is that it tears the weeds up real good. So if you have fall plowed ground, and you let it go until may, it will destroy anything growing. We foudn that planting late produces slightly lower yields on some things but there aren't weeds like you would get by planting earlier.
