Rotella oil

I have been using 15-40 Delvac in our JD4600 with a Yanmar engine for the last 15 years with no problems. 1300 hours on it now, and no problems, but I always preheat it before starting in cooler weather, and it sits from mid Nov till mid April. It has a regular block heater and I also put a magnetic heater on the oil pan.

ive used rotella 15 40 no problems,however i switched to mfa heavy diesel oil in 15 40. mfa = missouri farmers association. reason for change it meets same specs as rotella but every spring and fall mfa has a 1 mont oil sale and i buy hydraulic oil ,engine oil and gun grease real cheep.
lots around here use their oils no complaints

Tractor mechanic once told me that most oil failures were cause by NO oil, not the KIND of oil. He said it was unbelievable how many older tractors he got in that showed no oil on the dip stick!

You miss the point. They hate the entire Shell BRAND, but they will use Rotella.

They don't make the connection that Rotella is a Shell product. It's Rotella to them, not Shell, and they will argue if you try to tell them otherwise.

I believe that by chance, some 'product names' just seem to hit the jackpot for consumers. Up here, Tremclad rust paint is a good example, and so is Rustoleum rust paint. Rotella has something about it that connects with buyers for whatever reason. Sure it's good oil, and so are a LOT of other brands. Household cleaner Spray Clean would be another good example. Back to the oil thing, I thing the brand dedication is overblown, I believe that most reputable oil brands are the equivalent of the others. I've heard people say they won't sue Quaker State for example because their engine wore out quickly when using it etc. Nonsense I say ....
