round baler tying procedure

got a 505 super i that i am using for the first time (first time to operate any round baler). it has the double twine arms. what is the procedure for tying the bales? it has a toggle switch to work the tying arms.i think the arms go to the center and then it start tying correct? and then start working my way to the ends of the bales stopping on the marks on the tying indicator and when it gets to the end it cuts the twine, is this correct? and how long should i leave it on each indicator mark?

sounds like you got it, ussually just before you got bale finished being rolled or formed swing down arm into center of pickup area and let some incoming material get hold and draw it in, this will also keep twine from wrapping around a roller instead of bale. once you see twine being drawn into baler, swing twine tube to far end away from knife, i ussually count 8 or 10 seconds to make a good end to not cme apart when lifting, move over and count to 4 or five seconds, and continue every few inches till all the way accross. Should be some sort of knife at end of stroke of twine arm to cuttwine. when you see twine stop its time to eject bale, make sure you back up a few feet before you dump bale to allow room to pull back forward before closing tailgate otherwisewhen you run into windrow with gate open itll dump hay on ground behind baler. Always make sure to pull ahaed some before closing gate to keep it from bending when it hits bale.

what about the tieng indicator, in the pic that is as far as it will go. is this normal?

I forgot you did say it had two tieng arms, id say you must start from center and work to ends, ull get used to it quick, theyre simple machines. Just make sure both tubes are feeding twine before you send them to outsides
