Royal Purple 15-40

Anyone know about the Royal Purple outfit? They are out of Texas so they should know oil. I got a 320 gallon tote that had some 15-40 left in it. I heard that they make high-end lubes and oils for racing and such and I visited their website, but nowhere could I find them referencing that oil for a tractor diesel. I also got a tote with some of their gear oil in it (Synergy ISO 320) but I could find no viscosity on it. I just don't like throwing oil products into machinery without a little more confidence than I have here. Comments appreciated.

If the oil label says it's for a diesel, you can trust it. The only kind of diesel I've encountered that had a little different requirement was an air cooled diesel.

As a side note, I've never heard anything bad about Royal Purple.

The ISO 320 is the viscosity. It's about half way between 90 and 140 SAE gear oil.

Was there any other info on the oil, like an API rating (the info in the circle)?

Thank you all for the info. I'll call that number and chat with them. I feel better now that I know they're a known player.

I've been using Royal Purple in race engines for many years, never had any problems. I also have a old portable generator with a B&S engine, I needed to change the oil, I put some RP race oil in it, and now it runs almost twice as long on a tank of fuel than regular dino oil which really surprised me a lot!

My knowledge of Junior drag racing is very much out of date, but at one time Royal purple was the hot setup for maximum power and to help the rod live. Them little rascals had a pretty short fuse, so anything you could do to keep them in one piece was worthwhile.

I don't know if this is what you have but could be.

I still use RP in jr dragsters.

Found out a while ago the really top end piston type air compressors recommend
that stuff now. Emglo / Jenny products are some of the very best portables you
can buy.

That's what I've been running in the recip compressors here at work, the Royal Purple synthetic compressor oil.

It really does make a difference. Not so much the brand, but the synthetic blend specifically for compressors makes carbon fouled valves a thing of the past!

A few years ago I used some 10W-30 Royal Purple in my 3.3L Chrysler minivan. The whole time it was in the crankcase, the bearings rattled on startup for a while. This never happened with any other oil I ever used in this engine. It seemed so thin it drained down completely after you shut the engine off. I went back to my Mobil 1...

They use Royal Purple ISO 320 in the gear boxes of Wind Turbines here in the Northern part of the state..

I probably don't need to tell you anything about the length of the fuse!

I still use RP in jr dragsters.

And in 75 years never heard of it. Had to click on this to find out what they were talking about. Must be a western thing.

Where did you hear RP was in turbines? I know Amsoil has been working with the Wind Turbine Industry since 2009 and is now in over 50% of Turbines globally.
