Hey Randy haven?t seen you much on here and figured the Oliver
board would be my best shot to get ahold of you. The girlfriend and I
are gonna hit the 127 yard sale again this year. We were both pretty
let down last year. Not much of anything to even look at. I?m thinking
we need to try a different stretch of hwy. We ran from Danville KY to
Liberty KY and got so disgusted we just headed East back to
London. I?m thinking maybe start somewhere in TN and work our way
back north? Where have you had good luck? I?m not under the
illusion that I?m gonna find a big block chevelle for $500 but dang I?m
not hard to please either. A old lawn boy 2 stroke push mower would
tickle me. Thanks for the help.

You were kinda in the right neighborhood. I always figured the best of it was from about Danville Ky on down to Crossville Tn. Picking is pretty slim from Russell Springs/Jamestown on down across the dam,but when you get down by Albany it picks right back up in good shape. We like to rent a cabin on Dale Hollow Lake down in Byrdstown Tn and go both directions from there. We stay at Sunset Marina. It's down on Tn 111, but it's only a few miles off 127.

The north half of Ohio is pretty darned good, just depends on what kind of thing you're looking for. We ran in to a couple at a motel in Van Wert Ohio a few years ago. They farm cattle and peanuts down in far southern Georgia and northern Fla. They have a small junk shop down there. They said they thought Ohio was the best. They skip right over Alabama, Tn, and Ky and come right on up to Michigan and Ohio. They had a big aluminum stock trailer and an extended cab pickup loaded to the hilt when we talked to them. They said that the year before, they had met up with somebody else and transferred a load, had them haul it home and loaded up again before they went home.

Whatever you do,if you plan to get farther from home than you want to go back home at night, make darned sure you make motel reservations at least a month in advance. We just did Michigan and Ohio again last year, tried to get a reservation in Van Wert Ohio where we usually stay, about two weeks before the sale and couldn't get anything anywhere near there. We called a place way over in Defiance I think it was to find anything even two weeks out. If you wait and try to find something the night that you want to stay, you'll be sleeping in your car.
