ruff acceleration

I have a 1959 MF65 tractor that seems to idle ok, but when I give it some gas it will hesitate, then run ruff. Cutting in and out. I have rebuilt the carb. Replaced the plugs and points. Any thoughts?

Thanks Ron

Have you adjusted the valves yet? They need regular adjustment. Usually the exhaust valves don"t have enough clearance. It"s not easy since you have to pull the gas tank out. After that, do a compression test and see what you have.

Drain the carb with the plug under the bottom, then turn on the gas and see if you have good flow, sounds like trash in gas.

Hi Ron i'm reading your post and you didn't state that you replaced the condenser when they start going bad it will run like it's a carb. problem.

if you have the correct spark and the correct intitial timing and if your advance is working correctly,( lots of if"s that should make you look at the ignition system first) have you tried adjusting the main jet so that you get a smooth acceleration?
