Rumley Oil Pull Tractor

What does the phrase "oil pull" refer to in this tractor"s name? Thanks.

The tractor was oil cooled in a large square "radiator" on the front. It also operated on Kerosene and later Distillate fuel.
They were interesting powerful and clumsy machines. I really like them because I was born and raised near Laporte, IN, where they were built. Jim

It used oil to cool the engine instead of water to get the higher tempuritures needed to burn Kerosene effencily

Actually (with humility) it's Rumely, but the names've been confused and misspelled so long there's stuff listed under both spellings...
JIM: There's a 1912 article, in a marine eng'g journal, about a Rumely 6cyl inline vertical oil-burning engine, implying the engine was in production. In the course of digging around for info someone (possibly John Sch??--didn't take time to dig thru my file) said he recalled stories of more than one Rumely marine engine in boats on the lake there...ring any bells??? Any comment appreciated! Bud

Dr. Rumely was looking for a suitable name, he put down 50 names two stood out. Oilpull won out and was quickly registered. John Secor and his nephew William Higgins engineered the
rumely Oilpull tractor. Secor and higgins had been working on Marine engines, with the name Secor marine engine. Phil
