Running gears

Seeing as how I can't seem to find any Case 10 ton running gears, I'm forced to look at other brands. Any suggestions? Any experience w/ Minnesota gears? Thanks, Don

Minnesota gears are very tough, but kinda crude. They don't trail well unless you drill out the tie rod ends and put in bushings. We had several on the farm and other than trailing poorly they held up well.

Don, I agree with you, I don't think my Dad sold many around here, but I have really looked and still haven't found one, but that's ok, will keep looking

You might find the occasional Huebner lying around, as they were built in Forest Junction not far from either one of us. They were also crude, but trailed perfect at any speed as they toe in quite a little. Just a warning though if you use them on the road a lot they will eat front tires for that reason. Slip hitch is noisier than all heck going over bumps.

I have one I resurrected from scrap. Can you believe they tore the reach IN TWO! And then pulled the tongue off! (not sure if this is the correct sequence)
What I really liked is you can replace a spindle or a kingpin separately. The 90* knuckle under the kingpin is just a casting, with the spindle and kingpin lightly pressed in and locked with some set-bolts. Mine trails fine at 60, but I tightened up the tire rods and built a new tongue, along with the attaching hardware. I like it.

I have 3 Minnesota's, a John Deere, an Electric , a Calhoun, 2 Kastens, and an Allis Chalmers. Of them all, Minnesota is my preference. I routinely haul 11 5x5 round bales on 8 ton MN wagons with no issues at all.
