Running hydraulics

I have a 4430. I would like to hook up my neighbors
Vermeer rake to my tractor. It runs on hydraulics.
How do I set my hydraulics to run continuously
while raking?
I know it is simple but I have never done it.

It sounds like some slob has lost the 4430's operator's manual. The good news is that calling 1-800-522-7448 will obtain a replacement. The manual contains dozens of instructions and specification for numerous other systems that will also require attention.
As for the hydraulics . while there are better solutions, tying the SCV lever back with cord, wire, rope, spring, etc is the norm.
Does the rake has it's own flow/speed control valve ?
Make certain that the SCV is not set to single acting. This dumps the oil direct to the transmission case and will cause high volume hydraulic loads to starve for oil.
There is also a turtle to rabbit flow control adjustment on the SCV. The rake will probably require the adjustment to be rotated to the rabbit position.
These are other facts the operator's manual covers beyond holding the lever back. That an operator would not ordinary think of checking. So order the manual.
Hopefully the hydraulic oil cooler is clean and the fins are not bent.

hook it into your remote and latch the lever in the correct direction,, they do make a little clip to hold it in place but you can improvise..use the flow control on the SCV to slow it down if needed.

IMHO those rakes with orbit motors were designed to shorten the life expectancy of JD closed center hyd systems. IIRC one needs to have scv flow control knob turned down below 1/2 way. Be sure your tractors hyd oil cooler exterior is very clean!!!

Well I'm not the original owner. I do have an operator's manual, but I was a couple hours from home, I knew I was getting home late. I had hay down and rain coming today.
Anyway, I got if figured out. I connected it to an SCV that I keep turned down and just had to simply pull back the lever. Thanks
