running temp

What's the normal operating temperature of a 60 when bushhogging or doing something else that's not a lot of strain on the tractor? Mine seems to get up to 170 then very slowly reaches maybe 200. This is on a day when it was about 80 degrees outside. Does this sound about normal?

Well it depends on what thermostat you have. Do you know the thermostat rating? Also depends on the quality of your radiator, the cleanliness of your grill screens for air flow.

I wouldn't be overly concerned at 200 F on an 80 degree day.

My 50 runs at 140 on any day. But I measured it with an accurate gauge held down through the radiator opening and that was 165 so I know my regular gauge is low. Gauges don't always read accurately. Try a known precision gauge.

I no longer 'farm' my 60 and have to cover the grill in order to get it above 150. It has a new(tested) gauge and a NOS thermostat - also tested. Never got above 190 when I farmed it (in 100F temps). Don't forget the large capacity of the rad. HTH

My 60 (new thermostat and radiator core last year) runs between 170, and 200 as the thermostat opens and closes. 200 is not too high if your pressure cap is in good shape.

I did not see anything above 170 on my 620 baling hay two weeks ago. The ambinent temp was around 90. This is with a evergreen restoration gauge. Remember it holds 6 gallons of coolant.

If you do a lot of Bush-hogging with your 60, remember to keep the screens Clean AND check the radiator fins too for a buildup of debris...

Back-washing the radiator is a good idea once in a while...!

Don't use a "Pressure-Washer"..lust a garden hose..soak it well and most will flush out..

Having used these and others in a Mounted Corn Picker, I know....AND, ya won't be using any "Shutters", when ya do..!!
