Rust in gas tank

Is there any thing to use in gas tank to kept the rust out. After restoring a tractor you donot run them only at shows and parades.

I drain the gas from the tank and sediment bowl and then put about a quart or two of diesel fuel in the tank and carb. Of course you have to drain the diesel out of both when you start it the next time. Works for me.

Drain the tank, take it off and make sure there is no gas in it, drop a piece of small chain in it, make sure you hold on to one end so you can get it back out. Shake all around real good to loosen any rust. Rinse it out real good using water. Let it dry out completely then get you some tank coating and coat the inside of the tank. Let it set and dry for at least 5 days before you put any fuel in it. Dry time may vary with different brands of tank coating. Once it is coated no more rust problems.

FUEL TANK AND CARBURETOR LINES
Drain the fuel tank and clean the lines to the fuel pump and carburetor. As fuel dries, it leaves a tenacious “varnish” which will clog the system. Moisture that may be trapped at the bottom of the fuel tank will continue to cause corrosion, so leave the filler cap off for several weeks to allow for complete evaporation of any remaining fuel and moisture. When dry, spray the interior of the tank and carburetor with a light, moisture-displacing oil such as WD-40 or CRC 3-36. This will reduce the chance for condensed moisture to cause corrosion and will lubricate any internal mechanical components

I use something called Red Kote. It seals the inside of the tank. Got it from T.H.E. the-co.com. Just follow the instructions on the can.
