Is it just me or do these look like they been starting to brake for awhile ?

That may be exactly what it is. Looks like classic "fatigue"failure, where a crack intiates at a screw thread, or a sharp edge, or at a stress concentration, and slowly grows and slightly grows, over time, and gets a nice crack initiated, then once it has a nice crack initiated, if it is overloaded, it undergoes sudden brittle failure and CRACK!
