RV Refrigerator

I've been getting my camper trailer ready to sell. It hasn't been used in about 6 years.

Today I turned on the refrigerator, set it for auto with the power on. It made some gurgling sounds, couple hours later I checked and no cooling. Inside, the back wall was slightly warm. Around back the boiler and associated tubing was warm but not hot. I didn't try running it on propane, assuming if it won't work on electric the gas won't work either.

It worked before it was stored. Any ideas? It's been sitting under a cover, but it still got pretty nasty, lots of leaves, mud dabbers, mice... Possible something blocked?

Thanks!

There is a tale that has been around for some time that you need to remove the unit, turn it upside down for a few minutes, turn it back upright & it should work.

Is there any ammonia smell, especially in the freezer? If so it's probably all done. If you cannot smell any ammonia then check the roof vent for a blockage. As a last resort you can pull the unit out, turn it upside down overnight, the right side up for a couple of hours before plugging it in.

The trailer needs to be level or fridge doesn't work very well. If it needs "burping",it should remain upside down a few hours or preferablly several hours. Before going through all that, try the propane (clear the flue first). If it works on propane but not on 120 volts, the heating element is burnt out or control is bad. It takes several hours to cool down on 120 volt so be patient.

Thanks everyone, I'm going back out there today, I'll pull it out and turn it over. That will give me a chance to clean everything up too.

We'll see what happens!
