Gardner Diesel
I once got called out to a local Aggregates pit to a Gardner engine in a drag line that was reported to be "running away". We rushed to the pit expecting to find the engine, in bits, scattered all over the place, but found it running reasonably well. The governer on the pump had a problem and was allowing the engine to reach the heady speed of 750 rpm instead of the normal 500 rpm.
