Milwaukee sawsall, will the front interchange between the battery and corded type?

IDK for sure but I would yes if they are of the same vintage and comparative model run. I.E. Both 2022 commercial models. It would only make sense for a manufacturer to reuse a casting mold as much as possible. Each one is a huge expense and when you do 4-6 model changes every couple years that expense really adds up.

Not sure what you mean by "the front".
The part from the motor forward or just the blade holder?
My bet is they're not even close.
The battery ones have a very short stroke.
Corded has a much longer stroke.
I've had a corded Super Sawzall for many years.
A couple of years ago I needed to cut some brush that had grown up through a chain link gate. It was at a remote location so I borrowed my friend's brand new Milwaukee Fuel Sawzall. It was uttery useless IMO.
My brother drove his motorhome over and ran the generator so I could use my corded one which did the job in short order.

We use battery powered Milwaukee and Dewalt tools all the time in the Shipyard. 1/2" drill motors, metal cutting circular saws and Sawzalls .We build a lot of foundations designed and fabed onsight, rip out of old gear and many other tasks, all without issue.

Some of you guys sure have entertaining opinions of battery powered tools

I do have a couple of battery drill drivers that I couldn't live without but as for the rest of them I'd rather pull a cord.

Kids started buying me milwaukee battery tools and we have them at work, the only complaints I have are the first 4.5 inch grinders were weak. But the battery sawsall they bought me is great, was even cutting 8 inch dry chinese elm with it. First time out, I started cleaning low hanging branches and a couple trees in the fence line. Made a hell of a mess that took me a while to clean up, was impressed with the saw.

I have a corded Makita Sawzall. It will handle anything. Along with that I have a Ridgid 18v cordless. It can do anything that the Makita can. The Makita probably hasn’t moved off the shelf in 10 years.

Only thing I hate about the battery tools is they were not around in the late 70’s!

I don't use some of my stuff often enough. So if it sits there for 6 months I don't have to worry if the battery is still good. I know I can plug it in and it will work.

The newer ones with the lithium batteries are orders of magnitude better, and the batteries will stay at the same level of charge even after long storage - unlike the NiCds

However many years ago, had the Craftsman 19.2 tools with nicads. And was ready to give them up due to battery performance.
Then got a lithium battery and charger. What a difference.
While I have some Milwaukee tools when I need more tool....impact, circular saw, etc....my Craftsman tools still get it done for light homeowner/farm use.

Have a decent selection. Drill, reciprocating, skil, portable light, grease gun, ratchet, and impact. Found a brand new dewalt drill/driver in road last year.

All the battery powered saws are checked out so I could not directly compare. For what it is worth, the tool room guy, that often fixes tools instead of ordering new ones, says they are not interchangeable.
