Sc amp meter wiring ?

I’m putting a new amp meter on my SI army Airborne, not sure which side the generator wire connects to. One post has the L, the other side has B on it. I’m thinking the generator goes to L for load ? And the B should go to Battery side of starter button I think ? Also the wire feeding the light switch, by the book looks like it also connects to the load side.
I had a drawing but can’t find it. Any advise I’d appreciate

Try it that way. Wire to switch should be on generator side of the ammeter.

With battery and lights connected turn switch on but do not start engine. If meter reads negative it is correct, if it reads positive reverse the meter wires.

If you have a mag, you will not need the ignition switch, will you? If the OP is qualified to wire according to this diagram, he is probably able to figure out a way to ground the mag to shut the engine off. It will be a completely separate circuit—mag thru switch to ground. It will have nothing to do with a charging circuit—or an ammeter—nothing.
I can’t say that someone hasn’t changed something since 1941, but this gen has a voltage regulator on it, so I didnt think we needed any further cutout, right?
