I recently got the tractor at a auction and it had been sitting a long time but was running. It had about a cup of antifreeze at the oil plug. I've been checking it every day for about a week and each day I would still get just a little bit of antifreeze. So yesterday I pulled the oil pan off and looked but of course I couldn't find the leak and i tried compressing air in radiator and I put a pad down and still nothing over night. I wonder if it only leaks when it gets hot? I thought I would see if it was from the bottom of a sleeve if it's wet sleeves or if it's the head gasket. I thought it would help decide if I should try retorqing head or if I should put a bottle of copper bars leak in it. I'm sure if I put the oil pan back on with oil then it will start leaking again.

They are a wet sleeve tractor. Check the bottom of each sleeve closely. Antifreeze trickling from the outside of the sleeve would be bad sleeve o-rings. Antifreeze on the inside surface would indicate a head gasket or cracked head. A good stop leak won't hurt anything...get it hot and let it run for awhile after putting the stop leak in.

I certainly would have thought pressurizing the cooling system would have showed where it was leaking. Any other signs indicating cracked head or gasket problem, smoke color, slobering exhaust. Your right, as soon as you put that pan back on and fill it with new oil it will show up again. Those tractor gremlins will do that lol keep us informed of your progress and solution. gobble

This was the #4 Sleeve corroded almost completely thru this is below the compression line above the single o-ring on the 52. a lot of dirt had accumulated in the corner of the block accelerating the corrosion process. More than likely its the O-ring as noted. Best of luck with it!
