sc retaining rings

I feel foolish asking this question but have reached my ends. On the SC they hold on the brake pedals, clutch lever, etc (most moving members) on a stud and they are held on with what Case calls a snap ring in the parts catalog. The problem is these are a metal ring with no snap rings holes for removal, I have tried all I know but cannot figure out how to spread them for removal. Is there something I am missing or what is the secret to removing these? I am about ready to cut them off and then drill through the stud and put in a cotter pin. thank you

thank you, do you know where you can purchase those pliers, all my internet searches come up that they can not find anything under that name

I have several dc's and sc's. doing the brakes and the clutch levers etc I had no patience so I burned them off. upon reassembly I needed them so I called john saeli. he searched every dealer in the usa and came up with a total of five. one of the big, one of the medium (brake lever) and three small. I was able to find similar on the net but didn't order any and just used the ones with the small holes. they fit and look bad. they are very thin and hole size is big. if you can find some good replacements I'd be interested. good luck. chuck
