scraping sound from left rear drum?

Was just out hogging the field a bit and I noticed a scraping sound that seemed to come from the left rear drum maybe. It seemed to scrape once per revolution of the tire. Kinda sounded like scrape...scrape...scrape. (imagine that!) I know I need to pull it apart but any ideas on what I might be looking for? Thanks. It's a 52 8n.

Look at the picture. See how the axle splines are visible past the hub? That comes from a loose axle nut. It wears out the hub. As the wheel turns, it hits brake springs or the backing plate. And it makes a scraping noise.

You won't know for sure until you pull it down.

That seems like real good info Bruce considering this is the same wheel I found a very loose axle nut on awhile back. At the time I also noticed that someone had put a couple of extra large washers behind the nut to take up the slack. I bought me a 2" socket and tightened it as best I could with a supposed 550 lb. impact wrench and put on a new locking clip. So anyway I guess the fix is new hubs right? In the mean time will I hurt anything by using it a bit more as is to finish the bush hogging?
Right now I have a lawn tractor with a blown head gasket that is getting my attention next and two cars that need to go into the shop for minor warranty work and a daughter and son-in-law that I have to get moved 500 miles away this weekend!
Thanks Bruce

Finish the bush hog work; what's broke isn't going to get "broker"!

Probably the hub, maybe the axle & bearing retainer if your luck runs like mine.
